The Victorian Department of Justice and Community Safety held a review of the culture of the Victorian adult custodial corrections system in 2022. Yulang was asked to provide expert advice in two areas – the healthcare provided in Victorian prisons and the cultural safety (or otherwise) of the system.
Our input was significant and contributed to a shift in how the review reported, and a shift in recommendations made. The report has been instrumental in the design of the Victorian Ombudsman’s investigation into access to health care by people in prisons.
